Abstract

ABSTRACT

 

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the opinion of the leadership of the Chief Executive of the SAO, Faynaseng Sub-District, Lom Sak District, Phetchabun Province, according to the Buddhadhama, 2) to compare people’s opinion on this leadership, according to the principle of the Buddhadhama, by classifying according to their personal factors, and 3) to study the problems, obstacles and suggested improvements for the Chief Executive of the SAO in Faynaseng Sub-District, according to the principles of the Buddhadhama.

This research applied Mixed Methods Research consisting of quantitative and qualitative research. For quantitative research, a questionnaire was used as a survey. For the qualitative research an in-depth interview with key informants was used. To support the quantitative data, a field study was used to collect data from 349 people in Faynaseng Sub-District. To analyse the data; frequency, percentage, mean, T-test and F-test with one way ANOVA and lease significant difference (LSD) were used.

The results of this research:

1.       The level of the opinions of the monks towards the leadership of the Chief Executive of the SAO, according to the principle of the Buddhadhama, was at the high level . After considering each aspect, it was found that the leadership in the side of Panyapala aspect (knowledge) was at the highest level . However, in other aspects they were only at the high level.

2.       The result of the comparison of people’s opinions toward the leadership of the Chief Executive of the SAO, according to Buddhadhama, was classified according to personal factors: gender, age, level of education and income. It was found that people of the same gender, age, level of education and income had the same opinion towards the leadership; so the hypothesis was rejected. On the other hand, the people with different genders, ages, levels of education and income, had different opinions towards the leadership (at 0.05 of statistical significance). Therefore, the hypothesis was accepted.

3.       The suggestions for improvement were that the chief executive of SAO of Faynaseng should be a better planner, should have a better vision, and give more concentration on his work. He should also be sincere to his people, should solve the problem, and support and inspire the people to develop their own community. He should administrate with transparency and fairness, work without corruption, and give the people a chance to participate in every step of work. The chief executive of the SAO of Faynaseng should think about people’s opinions in order to improve himself. He should also apply it in order to get the community into a better position.
